Les Arcs, December 2024. Juror of the Alpine festival dedicated to European cinema, alongside his friend Céline Sallette, Delphine de Vigan, director Peter Kerekes, composer Herdís Stefánsdóttir and singer Sofiane Zermani, Pio Marmaï spoke about his first cinematic shocks, his first great sensations as an actor, but also about his current musical obsessions. Meeting at high altitude.
Madame Figaro.- Your first love at first sight at the cinema?
Pio Marmaï.- I think it was an animated film called Taram and the magic cauldronit had been a sort of revelation. I still have very strong memories of the first time I saw Las Vegas ParanoI had not paid for the ticket, I had returned in secret.
The first time you felt like an actor?
When I did On the loose! by Pierre Salvadori. There I felt that I was touching on things in the game, that I was starting to understand certain elements and that I had the possibility of going back and forth like that between quite poetic things. He really left an impression on me.
Posters in your childhood bedroom?
GoldenEye. I had a poster of this film above my bed. Why this one? Who knows, I think it must have been free in a magazine and then the little stickers, fluorescent stars. That’s it, it was GoldenEye and a fluorescent Milky Way.
Your first concert?
It must have been at the Strasbourg Opera with my mother. I went to the Opera a lot. At first it was more opera, and then hard rock, the complete opposite of opera. I did a kind of split that was quite dazzling.
Your current playlist?
I listen to the soundtrack of the film Kneecapthey are Irish rappers, I would say quite worshipful electro rap. And I find that pretty awesome, these guys have great energy.
The first autograph you got?
I’ve never really done that… I’ve never really understood the thing about being someone’s fan. I think I asked to take a selfie with Teddy Riner.
