On the night of Sunday April 21 to Monday April 22, 2024, Kendji Girac was shot and injured in a Traveler reception area in Biscarrosse, in the Landes, announced our colleagues from BFMTV. The 27-year-old singer was hit in the chest and transported in absolute emergency to Bordeaux University Hospital. A few hours after being hospitalized, his vital prognosis was no longer in jeopardy. The singer then began to tell his version to investigators. Shortly after the incident, Kendji Girac indicated that he had purchased this weapon the day before the accident in a flea market. The man said he injured himself. Discovered in The Voice 2014, he was later accused of having “blackmailed suicide” with his partner, Soraya Miranda. She categorically refuted the rumors of physical and psychological violence of which her husband was accused.
After two months of investigation, final revelations were finally made. Monday June 24, 2024, the public prosecutor of Mont-de-Marsan revealed in a press release that “the investigations, which have since been able to continue peacefully, are now completed”. Kendji Girac would then have deliberately provoked the shooting, “a massive concentration of powder on Mr. Girac’s clothes, particularly on the sleeves”, having been discovered by the investigators. “Residual traces” were also analyzed on his partner’s clothing, “compatible with her presence in another room of the caravan, away from the shooting”.
