Dazzled by the landscape of Baja California, a Mexican peninsula with arid reliefs, American interior designer Alex Boudreau modeled a timeless refuge for her family, where the shadow of Georgia O’Keeffe and Luis Barragán hovers. . This new domestic territory, generously open to the outside world, is conducive to exchanges between generations, who mix freely there, according to their impulses and withdrawals.

You have to wind through a sandy path to reach the house of the parents ofAlex Boudreau from Todos Santos, near the Pacific Ocean and against the backdrop of the desert hills of Baja California. “ This place is called Pueblo Magico, no doubt for a myriad of reasons. She has been traveling here with her family since she was a teenager. Deal with the elements and not against them”, explains Alex Boudreau. Rock and sand have therefore defined the new family domain where interior and exterior merge. The hall through which you access the main body of the building has been fitted out using blocks of Laja Blanca (a white stone from the region) for a raw decor providing a happy contrast with the more contemporary rooms.

Designed like a beach house, the family den houses numerous spaces dedicated to rest and relaxation, from bedrooms to living rooms, with alcoves and benches happily used by young and old for games, reading or naps. The colors chosen correspond to those that can be observed outside: the beige of the sand, the blue of the sea and the sky, and the orange of the sunsets over the ocean.
