Already, as a teenager, Vanessa Mazelaygue was attracted to architecture and interior design. How to optimize spaces, decorate, try to find the right layout in the house to make everyday life easier?

Finally, becoming nurse for 18 years, graduated in 2005she stopped this profession at the end of 2023. And she created her own business “Ma Maison Optimiste”, which supports owners in renovating homes.

“I started thinking about it in 2021, after following training in 2022 at the HOME school remotely. I carried out two projects in Cherbourg: The first is the transformation of a law firm in an apartment. The second, still with the same client, was to rearrange the other apartment. That got me going. I now have a website, mamaisonoptimiste.com, a Facebook page, and Instagram and in 2024, I will have LinkedIn,” explains Vanessa.

“Take everyone’s needs into account”

“We have a particular approach to the profession of interior designer, specialist in space and the understanding of humans. The goal is to create spaces that exactly reflect the clients’ lifestyle and to do this, take into account the needs of each cohabitant (parents, children, animals, guests, etc.) All people who, at a given moment, can live together. These needs must be taken into account and even anticipated. Sometimes people are not necessarily aware of what is missing from their lifestyles. »

Vanessa Mazelaygue designs for now but also for the future so that, even long after, customers are still satisfied. “Concretely, there are quite substantial specifications and it is thanks to these that I will be able to design the habitat that corresponds to them. I also take into account the budget and technical constraints then I make a quote,” specifies the self-employed person.

The goal is for people to feel good about their home, for it to be what they like.

I work with clients and I don’t rely on trend to work. For example, it is not because a glass roof is very trendy that I will necessarily install one, unless expressly requested by the client. It must have a use and there must be an interest.

This can be a total or partial renovation. Rethink interior design, create additional spaces without necessarily expanding, modernize homes, create storage where there is none.
