The Duke and Duchess of Castro attended the Better World Fund gala, organized at the prestigious Carlton, on the sidelines of the Cannes Film Festival, for the benefit of pianist Lang Lang’s foundation. Prince Charles and Princess Camilla of Bourbon of the Two Sicilies were accompanied by their daughters, Princesses Maria Carolina and Maria Chiara. The evening was dedicated to celebrating women’s empowerment and organized in honor of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between France and China. The gala evening was organized by the Better World Fund, at the Carlton Hotel. The sumptuous hotel was the setting for this prestigious event organized on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between France and China. Art, culture and philanthropy were on the program for this evening, which continued the next day with a masterclass highlighting the women’s empowerment movement.

Prince Charles and Princess Camilla de Bourbon of the Two Sicilies, Duke and Duchess of Castro, attended the event with their two daughters, Princesses Maria Carolina and Maria Chiara of the Two Sicilies. The evening was under the patronage of MP Eric Alauzet, president of the France-China Friendship Group at the French National Assembly. The profits from this charity evening were donated to the Lang Lang International Music Foundation. The famous Chinese pianist’s foundation supports programs to teach music to children. The mission of this foundation fits perfectly with the idea of ​​this evening, the aim of which was to convey values ​​of humanity and cultural symbiosis through music.

At the dinner, Princess Maria Carolina, Duchess of Calabria and Palermo, sat next to singer Joyce Jonathan. The Duke of Castro sat at the table opposite Eliza Reid, Iceland’s first lady. Eliza Reid is the wife of President Guðni Th. Jóhannesson, whose last term ends in a few days. Eliza Reid is a staunch feminist and also advocates for causes related to gender equality.

The actress was already alongside Joyce Jonathan last January on the second floor of the Eiffel Tower during the evening celebrating the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between France and China, the actress also enjoying significant notoriety in Asia.

A sale took place during the evening to benefit the Lang Lang Foundation. Joyce Jonathan also performed on stage, as did guzheng artist Peng Jingxuan. The guzheng is a stringed instrument, similar to a zither. This Thursday, the day after the gala evening, a masterclass will be given in the morning, as part of the Better World Fund program. Princess Camilla and Princess Maria Carolina are expected to speak. They will address effective strategies to increase female representation in decision-making spheres and discuss the challenges and successes encountered by women leaders around the world.
