A giant fresco now sits on one of the walls of the senior residence in the Pierre-Heuzé district in Caen (Calvados).
A giant fresco for the 50th anniversary of the senior residence: “we wanted to mark the occasion”
Since mid-September 2024, the thirty residents of this residence which belongs to the City of Caen have been all smiles. “It’s very, very beautiful,” says one of the residents before taking her ambulance.
This is the graffiti artist Solicelast torchbearer of the Olympic flame in Caen at the end of May, who created this fresco, more than 10 meters high. Over two days, Wednesday September 18 and Thursday September 19.
We wanted to mark the occasion! This fresco was created to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the senior residence, which dates from October 1974. And as we are poorly identified and people often look for us, we will be seen more with this magnificent fresco.
A fresco called “The Lady of Hearts”, based on residents’ wishes
Named “ The lady of hearts«, this fresco was created by Solice based on residents’ wisheswhom he came to meet in the spring of 2024.
This is how the codes of belote and triomino games appear at the heart of this fresco.
This place is above all a place of exchange, joy and social. This is why I wanted to create the CCAS Lady of the Heart. Elegant woman, smiling but not too much, with a knowing look that draws parallels with the life companions who are there on a daily basis for seniors. This fresco is intended to be unique in its kind in Normandy, it highlights a woman who wears her heart on her sleeve.
Belote and triomino at the heart of the design
In the drawing, a servant, parts of the Triominothe lady with a heart on her cheek, the number 50 and lots of colors.
« Everyone is very satisfied and finds himself there in this fresco,” continues Aurélie Loredon. “I see a tear in the shape of a heart, things that represent memory for example, a bit of everything that goes with old age. Everyone translates it according to their wishes.”
Student accommodation in the residence for a month
Since the beginning of September, the senior autonomy residence hosts also students. In fact, four students are already renting a room and three others are due to arrive by the end of the year.
