France: Tense exchange between Zemmour’s partner and a journalist

The media talked a lot about her during the 2022 French presidential election. At that time, all the spotlights were on Eric Zemmour, a former columnist presenting himself as THE big surprise of this race for the Élysée. In September 2021, while the polemicist had not yet formalized his candidacy, “Paris Match” published on the front page a stolen photo showing him with Sarah Knafo, a young magistrate aged 28. Eric Zemmour was then still married to Mylène Chichportich, a lawyer whom he met in 1982. In January 2022, Eric Zemmour ended up formalizing his romance with Sarah Knafo, who had in the meantime become his campaign manager.

Zemmour’s partner decided to come out of the shadows and personally enter politics. The thirty-year-old will appear in third position on the Reconquest list in the European elections, led by Marion Maréchal. Invited in this context on BFMTV on Sunday, Sarah Knafo answered questions from journalist Benjamin Duhamel. “You are Éric Zemmour’s partner, it’s not a secret, it’s something that is assumed. We knew, at the National Rally, the “father to daughter” policy. At Reconquest, is politics done as a couple?” he asked her.

Visibly stung by this question, Sarah Knafo gave a vitriolic response, attacking her interlocutor on her own family ties. Indeed, the journalist is the son of Patrice Duhamel, journalist and former director general of France Télévisions and Nathalie Saint-Cricq, head of the political service of France 2. His uncle is none other than Jean Duhamel, famous journalist. “The question surprises me a lot coming from you, Benjamin Duhamel. I know that you too are subject to these piston accusations a lot. You who are the son of, the nephew of, etc.,” retorted Sarah Knafo.

The journalist argued that he was not involved in politics. “That changes something? Do you agree that these accusations are completely unfair? You have your own talent, so if you want, we can discuss my career,” replied Eric Zemmour’s partner. Benjamin Duhamel then criticized his interlocutor for calling into question his “probity”. “There is not a sort of mixture of genres to see that a president of a political party nominates his partner on a list for the European elections?”, he continued. “There is no mixing of genres. Our duo gives us incredible strength,” retorted the former magistrate.

This tense exchange did not go unnoticed on social networks, where many Internet users highlighted Sarah Knafo’s repartee.
