Talent clearly continues to flow into the Debbouze family. A renowned comedian for one and a successful journalist for the other, Jamel Debbouze and Mélissa Theuriau were united in marriage in 2008. This union gave birth to Léon, their first child, on December 3, 2008. Crazy about football, the elegant young man, now 15 years old, seen in February with his father on the red carpet during the Cesar ceremony, is making headlines.

For several days, a rumor has been spreading in certain media: Léon would have joined the PSG under-16 team this year and would even have signed a first contract. Small problem, this announcement is the result of a succession of approximations. First, Léon Debbouze does not play for the U16 team of the club’s training center, but for that of his association, which considerably changes the situation.

This organization has only managed the club’s amateur teams since 1991. Only an agreement, renewed in 2019 for ten years, links it to Paris Saint-Germain. The association’s licensees are closer to “leisure” practice, unlike the training center residents who aspire to become professionals. According to our information, Léon Debbouze’s situation should not change further either. It is not expected that he will join the training center (from which Warren Zaire-Emery, Ethan Mbappé notably come) and PSG does not intend to offer him a contract.

“Comedian or footballer, I’m proud”

Léon’s parents have warned him for a long time about the difficulty of breaking into football. The director of “Terminal” was already satisfied with his son’s career in an interview with Jeux Vous Aime, Patrick Sébastien’s magazine in 2021. “Léon Debbouze! Princes Park ! In the World Cup final! Seriously, comedian or footballer, I’m proud as long as he enjoys his life,” said Jamel Debbouze, a big PSG fan.

His wife, Mélissa Theuriau, is much more cautious about the future of her son, as revealed by Libération in his portrait the same year. The French daily even says that the producer of the show “Au tableau!!! » tended to “damp down his enthusiasm, just to prevent any disillusionment, by pointing out to him that there are many called and few chosen”.
