Omar Sy no longer sees Fred Testot: “It’s a choice that is his”

Omar Sy was a guest on the show “Clique” on Canal+ on the occasion of the release of his book entitled “Viens, on se parole”. During the conversation, the famous French actor returned to his friendship with Fred Testot. In the mid-2000s, the two actors formed an iconic TV duo for “SAV des emissions”. But since then, their paths have diverged. The two men have not been dating for over ten years now.

While Fred Testot had a mixed career in cinema in the years following “SAV”, Omar Sy saw his career take off in France and internationally. After his cult role in the film “Intouchables”, the actor had the chance to appear in several blockbusters and was featured in “Lupin” on Netflix. According to the 46-year-old actor, this dazzling notoriety is largely at the origin of his estrangement from Fred Testot.

“There really isn’t a valid explanation. There’s no real beef, but you understand that’s what happens with everyone. There is an optic that is distorted and I am seen as someone else because we project the image of an Omar Sy who is not me,” he confided to Mouloud Achour in “Clique” this Monday evening. “Even those who know me best, in this case him who knows me very well, have at some point projected the image of someone who was not me. He wasn’t in sync with this person, which I can understand. But I wasn’t that person.”

The actor, however, admitted to having suffered for a time from this distance between him and Fred Testot. “Frankly, I missed it for a while. It was even painful at one point. But I got used to one reason, that’s how life is. It’s also a choice that is his for the moment, not mine, and which I totally respect. And that’s how life is.”

Omar Sy then clarified that his door always remained open to his former accomplice. “I’m here, if it rings, I answer, obviously,” he concluded.
