At -Charles-de-Gaulle airport, Ève Gilles makes fun of her passport photo. In the photo, she sports long hair and does not yet know that she will one day become Miss 2024. Four months after her election, the 20-year-old young woman is preparing to experience a significant stage in her reign: the traditional integration trip during which she will be officially inducted into the Miss France family, surrounded by five former beauty queens: Camille Cerf, Maëva Coucke, Diane Leyre, Indira Ampiot – with whom she shares her hotel room at the Lux Grand Baie – and Cindy Fabre, the competition director. Head to Mauritius… 9,445 km from Paris!

Ève Gilles moved to tears during her integration trip to Mauritius and very surrounded by the other Miss France

The photo sessions follow one another on the beach of Grand Baie or on that of Flic-en-Flac, during a horseback ride at sunset. Ève Gilles is disconcertingly natural and seems born to be in front of the lens. But When asked about the difficulty of posing in a swimsuit, she bursts into tears. This is the first time that she has repeated the experience since the shooting carried out in Guyana with the 29 other regional candidates for Miss France 2024, which earned her numerous criticisms of her body shape. The Misses then transform into a pack of wolves. Unfortunately, they all received criticism about their physique during their reign and advised him not to attach importance to it. It is during the integration evening which ends the stay that Miss France 2024 reveals herself. In the middle of dinner on the beach, the Misses start an impromptu karaoke on… Eve get up, by Julie Pietri. Ève Gilles lets loose and reveals her true personality…

Ève Gilles (Miss France 2024) on criticism of her weight: I eat normally but I don’t gain weight.”

Tele-Leisure : You were very moved by the compliments from the ex-Miss France during your integration evening…
Eve Gilles:
It was very touching. I am very modest and have difficulty expressing my feelings or show my emotions. With my parents or my two older sisters, we never say “I love you”. So I’m not really comfortable receiving compliments.

And also very moved when talking about the criticism you received about your body shape…
I eat normally but I don’t gain weight. I learned to love my body, which I hated when I was little, and I had confidence in myself. Everything was destroyed. People expect us to be exceptional. Some say for example ‘Is that your Miss France?’ Well yes, I’m a woman, I was elected and I don’t see what more they expect.

Ève Gilles (Miss France 2024): I showed what I was capable of.”

Just after your election, you told us: “I’m not just a Miss with short hair”… Bet won?
I am completely Ève Gilles, Miss France 2024. Not just Ève Gilles, the girl with the short hair. I showed what I was capable of. I am respected for the person I am.

The entire interview and behind the scenes of Ève Gilles’ integration journey can be found in the 1992 issue of Tele-Leisure on newsstands this Monday, April 29.
