Thirteen years after the disappearance of his son Mathis, Sylvain Jouanneau was indicted for the murder of his young boy. The father appealed the detention order, which the investigating chamber of the Caen Court of Appeal is examining this Tuesday morning.

A trace of DNA found in the trunk of Mathis’ father’s car

We have learned that new analyzes carried out since the trial as part of the judicial investigation opened for intentional homicide have made it possible to find DNA which could be that of Mathis. DNA found in the trunk of the father’s car, on the underside of the floor mat.

Sylvain Jouanneau is not present at the hearing of the investigating chamber, which Mathis’ mother, however, attends. He refused his extraction.

In June 2015, Sylvain Jouanneau was sentenced to 20 years of criminal imprisonment for kidnapping and forcible confinement. He had not returned Mathis to his mother on September 4, 2011 after his weekend of custody.
Since his disappearance, the child, then aged 8, has never been found.
