Morocco is attracting more and more French people, not only as a tourist destination, but also as a place of residence for retirees. A recent report from TF1, entitled “Is Morocco a paradise for French retirees? », looked into this growing phenomenon.
The report highlights the attraction of the Kingdom for French retirees, in particular thanks to its mild weather. With pleasant temperatures in autumn, Morocco has become the third world destination for this category of population. Agadir, in particular, now has nearly 4,000 retired French residents, three times more than ten years ago. This enthusiasm can also be explained by attractive tax advantages and exceptional sunshine.
TF1 gives the floor to Yves and Nathalie, a couple from Marseillais who chose Agadir to spend peaceful days with a pension of 2,800 euros. The report shows how these retirees integrate into local life, in particular by creating associations which maintain a link with French culture.

Agadir offers a pleasant living environment with easy access to shops and fresh products, favored by the agricultural dynamism of the Souss-Massa region. The sunshine, which reaches 340 days per year, is a major asset. However, the report highlights the growing concern over increasingly frequent heatwave episodes, with temperatures approaching 50 degrees.
Finally, TF1 discusses the challenges Morocco faces in terms of infrastructure and water resources management. The country is investing heavily in projects such as desalination plants, particularly in the Souss-Massa region, to meet the needs of a growing population.
