Italian village offers 1-euro houses to Americans disappointed with Trump’s election

To repopulate his small village, the mayor of a small municipality in Sardinia, Italy, offers Americans disappointed with the election of Donald Trump houses at unbeatable prices.

“Are you exhausted from world politics? Are you looking to adopt a more balanced lifestyle while offering yourself new opportunities? It’s time to start planning your getaway […] in the magnificent paradise of Sardinia”, it is indicated on a dedicated site.

The mayor of Ollolai, Francesco Columbu, told the CNN network on Tuesday that he wanted to offer this opportunity to American citizens, particularly those stunned by the Republican’s return to the White House.

The municipality of 1,400 souls offers three types of housing, including free temporary accommodation, 1-euro houses with renovations and turnkey residences for prices of up to 100,000 euros.

“We obviously cannot prohibit people from other countries from applying, but Americans will benefit from an accelerated procedure,” mentioned Mayor Columbu, specifying that the online platform received nearly 38,000 applications.

“Of course, we can’t specifically mention the name of a newly elected American president, but we all know that’s the one that many Americans want to get away from now and leave the country,” explained Mr. Columbo at CNN.
