The six potential vice-presidents of the European Commission were interviewed on Tuesday. Raffaele Fitto, from Fratelli d’Italia, is the most contested.

Nothing obliged Ursula von der Leyen to give such an important title to a representative of the extreme right.

A global vote on the entire new college should take place on November 27.
Hearings of the 26 European commissioners, week 2 and end. On Tuesday, the six potential vice-presidents were put on the grill by MEPs: Raffaele Fitto, Kaja Kallas, Stéphane Séjourné, Roxana Mînzatu, Henna Virkkunen and Teresa Ribera. Prospective for Cohesion and Reforms, Raffaele Fitto is the one whose three-hour grand oral presentation was the most disrupted and monitored. Candidates appointed by the President of the European Commission have already failed at this level in the past. If no obstacle stands in the way of Raffaele Fitto – his evaluation vote, like that for Kaja Kallas, is postponed and did not take place on Tuesday – he will become the first representative of an extreme right party to become vice-president of the Commission. A global vote on the new college is expected to take place on November 27.
“An important recognition”
