He hid 20 million euros in the walls of his house: the police chief provided services to drug traffickers

A case that is causing a lot of noise on the other side of the Pyrenees.

Oh, what a great catch.

On November 6, the Spanish authorities got their hands on one of the largest seizures of cocaine of the story: 13 tons of white powder hidden in banana boxes transported in a container to Algeciras.

In the process, the investigation took a spectacular turn. Since internal affairs carried out the arrest of the head of the economic crimes section of the National Police, Óscar Sánchez Gil.

His wife was in on it

Presented as a brilliant and discreet police officer, Óscar Sánchez Gil, 48, went through the narcotics and organized crime section, recalls El Mundo. His arrest would have surprised many of his colleagues. But internal affairs have been tracking him for several months now, he is suspected of having a link with the criminal organization that took the famous container to Algeciras. He is being prosecuted for corruption and money laundering.

Óscar S. was the head of the laundering unit and had previously been responsible for the narcotics brigade. A discreet police officer who no one suspected of working for drug traffickers. But he kept a million euros in 500 and 50 bills in his office https://t.co/74lWk59hLx

A spectacular arrest and an impressive seizure: according to our colleagues, the police found 20 million euros hidden in the walls of their colleague's house. They also allegedly found 1 million euros in 50 notes hidden… in the office of Óscar Sánchez Gil. Money that would be… his. A sum collected over the years for services rendered, in other words “the benefits obtained for his role in the conspiracy”. His wife was also arrested.
