US presidential election: it’s not just Kamala Harris and Donald Trump who are running, here are all the candidates in the election

Jill Stein has already proven her influence on the results of the presidential election in the past. In 2016, she allowed Donald Trump to capture the states of Michigan and Wisconsin by winning respectively the 51,463 and 31,072 votes coveted by Hillary Clinton, recalls Arte. Sixteen years ago, a substantially identical scenario had already allowed George W. Bush to narrowly win the Presidential election against Democrat Al Gore, when Green Party candidate Ralph Nader then captured New Hampshire and Florida.

The American presidential election will be played in seven key states: here is who will win according to the polls

Another element to take into account, still in Michigan and Wisconsin, Jill Stein is proving very popular with the Arab-Muslim electorate, who are distancing themselves from the pro-Israeli position defended by Joe Biden during his mandate. According to a study by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), Stein’s popularity is ahead of Harris’s in polls focusing on this population group. Thus, 40% of Muslim voters would support the environmentalist, 12% Harris and 18% Trump. “Kamala Harris cannot win the presidential election because she has lost crucial support from Muslim and Arab Americans in key voting states“, she told Newsweek magazine last September. “So she can’t win. There is now a number of data that suggests the Democrats lost. Unless they renounce their genocide.

Jill Stein’s tireless fight against genocide has its roots in her childhood, which she spent in the aftermath of the Holocaust in a Jewish community in Chicago, reports Newsweek. “The genocide was a very important event for a community trying to understand if there was life after the genocide. How to regain faith in humanity? For my community, it was about affirming that a genocide could not happen again and that the witnesses were as responsible as the perpetrators of these crimes. This is what I was taught, it was ingrained in my bones: don’t let this happen“, she told the magazine, talking about her personal story.

For Democratic National Committee spokesperson Adrienne Watson, Stein is “andspoiler’ (political candidate who unexpectedly beats a competitor who was supposed to win, Editor’s note) for Trump, who is working hand-in-hand with Republican consultants and Trump’s former personal lawyer to get her on the ballot in key states.

Cornel West, the defector

Another candidate not to be underestimated, independent Cornel West could also steal votes from Kamala Harris. The 71-year-old philosopher, who has also taught at Yale, Harvard and Princeton, as RFI recalls, is in the race in the three key states of Michigan, Wisconsin and North Carolina.

Last June, he launched his campaign with the People’s Party, before a complication in their relations pushed him to seek the nomination of the Green Party, which he also renounced. Ultimately, West will make the decision to only run as an independent candidate.

It must be said that Cornel West is accustomed to this type of imbroglios. In the past, his political career had already shown a spectacular about-face: while he supported the Democrat Barack Obama in 2008, he subsequently transformed himself into one of his main detractors. However, the man does not seem to have much more affection for Joe Biden, whom he once called Biden a “war criminal”, nor for Donald Trump, who was entitled to the unflattering nickname ” fascist piper”.

Who will win the Presidential election, Kamala Harris or Donald Trump? Here’s what CNN’s final national poll results show

Chase Oliver, the pro-abortion Libertarian

At 39 years old, Chase Oliver stands out from other “third party” candidates by the simple fact that he is the only one of them running in all seven key states. Representative of the Libertarian Party, the third largest political party in the United States, this commercial director adopts a very strong position with regard to the major issues of the campaign. Openly homosexual, Oliver, who defends a pro-LGBT and pro-abortion line, also campaigns for the abolition of the death penalty. By banking on his pro-arms position and calling for an end to military support for Israel and Ukraine, the Libertarian could take a few votes away from Donald Trump, his party.generally garnering 1 to 3% of the Republican vote“, analyzes the BBC.

I’m almost 40 years old. I live the life of a normal American“, he declared to BBC Americast. “I understand what it’s like to go to the grocery store with the same amount of money but see fewer and fewer things filling your cart. These are things from which Donald Trump and Joe Biden are so far removed that they can no longer transmit these values.

Randall Terry, le “pro-life” radical

Randall Terry, 65 years old and member of the Constitution Party, is running in 13 states, including the three key states, like Cornel West, Wisconsin, Michigan and North Carolina. This “pro-life” candidate, who distinguishes himself from Donald Trump by the extreme radicality of his anti-abortion position, could therefore rely on this ground to try to grab votes from voters dissatisfied with the Republican.

Robert F. Kennedy, support for Donald Trump

Fifth and final “small” candidate, former lawyer Robert F. Kennedy first considered running under the Democratic banner, before deciding to run as an independent. The 70-year-old nephew of former President John Fitzgerald Kennedy announced last August that he was suspending his campaign to support Donald Trump. However, this step was only taken too late for the states of Wisconsin and Michigan, where it still appears on the ballot, as RFI indicates.
