North Korea alongside Russia until ‘victory’ in Ukraine

Pyongyang will remain alongside Russia until its “victory” in Ukraine, the head of North Korean diplomacy assured Friday from Moscow, at a time when her country is suspected of deploying soldiers in support of the Russian army.

“There is no doubt that under the wise leadership of the distinguished Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Russian army and people will achieve a great victory (…) We reaffirm that we will always stand firmly on the side of our Russian comrades until Victory Day,” Choe Son Hui said, according to a Russian translation of his remarks, during a meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov.

North Korea will continue to strengthen its nuclear arsenal, its head of diplomacy said on Friday in Moscow, while Pyongyang is suspected of requesting Russian technologies in exchange for its military support for the Russian army in the conflict in Ukraine.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un “clearly indicated on Thursday that the current situation… requires us more than ever to strengthen our modern strategic offensive nuclear weapons, as well as to improve our nuclear response capability, and I once again affirms that our country will in no way change the course of strengthening its nuclear arsenal,” declared, according to a Russian translation, Minister Choe Son Hui, during a meeting with her counterpart Sergei Lavrov.
