A new Flixbus line from Brussels

LGerman long-distance coach company Flixbus announced on Tuesday that it was launching a direct line between kyiv and Brussels, claiming a symbolic move as Ukraine continues to grapple with Russian invasion and seeks to join the European Union.

“This is the first Flixbus line connecting Ukraine to Brussels, the heart of Europe,” the transport company said in its press release.

“For Flixbus and for Ukraine, which continues its path towards integration into the European community, this line is a symbol and confirmation that Ukrainians are getting closer to their ambition of becoming a full member of the EU,” the Germany-based company said, adding that “Brussels is now closer, literally and symbolically.”

The new line will open on Wednesday and will operate two services per week: departures on Wednesday and Friday mornings from kyiv, and in the opposite direction, departures on Monday and Saturday mornings from Brussels Gare du .

On this journey of approximately 40 hours, several stops will be served, including Lviv, Berlin, Hanover, Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Cologne airport and Liège.

FlixBbs already offers 28 direct bus routes between Ukraine and 8 EU countries. The company connects kyiv directly to Warsaw, Budapest and Berlin.

Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in late February 2022, the company suspended some of its routes, including Warsaw-kyiv and Prague-kyiv, before gradually resuming service around two months later.
