Donald Trump said on Saturday that he proposed a plan to the king of Jordan to “clean up everything” in the Gaza Strip, which is in ruins.

The US president called King Abdullah II to ask him to accommodate more Palestinians on his territory, according to CNN reports.

“I told him I wish he would take in more because I look at the whole Gaza Strip right now and it’s a mess, it’s a whole mess,” he described to reporters. Americans aboard his Air Force One plane.

Mr. Trump also plans to meet with the President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to make the same request.

“We’re talking about a million and a half people, and we just have to clean it all up,” he added, referring to the territory of Gaza.

The latter specified that this plan could “be temporary” or “long term”.

This small territory has been the target of numerous attacks by Israel since the Hamas attack on October 7, which caused the deaths of 1,210 individuals. The Israeli offensive has left at least 47,200 dead since that date, according to AFP figures.
