This initiative, launched by the Moroccan league of young newspaper publishers, in collaboration with the cultural and musical association “Amieva” and the town hall of Santander, aimed to promote solidarity and strengthen mutual understanding between Morocco and Spain.
Several activities punctuated the course of this event, which coincided with the celebration by the Moroccan community established in the Bilbao region of the Amazigh New Year 2975, including a “musical bingo”, tasting workshops for pastries and Moroccan dishes, henna and calligraphy sessions, as well as music performances.
Among the highlights of this festival, the brilliant performance of the famous Spanish artist Eva Amieva, accompanied by Moroccan musicians and pianist Ahmed Jaddawi.
On this occasion, the Consul General of the Kingdom of Morocco in Bilbao, Mohamed Jebari, reaffirmed Morocco’s deep solidarity with the families of the victims and those affected by the devastating floods which affected Spain.
He recalled that Morocco, in accordance with the high instructions of HM King Mohammed VI, has mobilized significant logistical resources to contribute to relief and rehabilitation efforts in the affected areas, emphasizing the values of fraternity and good neighborliness which unite the two Kingdoms.
Mr. Jebari also highlighted the role of the Moroccan community in Spain in the realization of this brotherhood and praised the active involvement of numerous Moroccan associations and volunteers for the restoration of normal life in the affected cities.
-“This solidarity festival is a bridge of communication between Morocco and Spain,” underlined, for his part, Mateo Echevarría Méndez, councilor at Santander City Hall. “We have always been brother peoples in all aspects,” he observed, noting that the proceeds from this event, which allows you to discover the richness and diversity of Moroccan culture, will contribute to supporting the victims of the floods.
For his part, the president of the Moroccan League of Young Newspaper Editors, Mohamed Fajri, indicated that the participation of diplomats, journalists, artists, intellectuals, actors of civil society and the Moroccan community resident in Spain illustrates the deep and sincere support for the victims of the floods in Valencia and their families.
“This event not only celebrated our rich cultural diversity, but also embodied the human values that unite us. I hope that the success of this event will inspire future collaborations to further strengthen bilateral relations between Morocco and Spain,” noted the co-director of the festival, Aimane Reghais.
