“When Donald Trump pressed that button, we froze”

Although they still continued their interview, they had the unpleasant surprise of seeing the president finally press the button. “We froze,” they said, in comments reported by HLN. But the outcome was not what they imagined, since a butler arrived a few seconds later. “He entered the Oval Office through a side door with an ice-cold Diet Coke on a tray and placed it in front of the president who smiled,” they detailed.

Where has the anti-Trump “resistance” gone?

In fact, this button was there long before Donald Trump arrived. It dates from the middle of the 19th century. And many presidents have used it to have tea, coffee or other drinks brought to them. But Donald Trump, as a big fan of sugar-free sodas, would almost only use it for these soft drinks. This is why many now call the button the “cola button”.

In an interview with CBS News, the American president said he was delighted with the effect that the small box had on the people in the room when he used it. “Everyone gets a little nervous when I press it,” he said.
