Work to install the first wind measuring mast will begin next Wednesday. The first mast will be installed in the territory of the municipality of Billens-Hennens, in the “Côte du Glaney” wind power perimeter, the Department of Economy, Employment and Vocational Training (DEEF) indicated on Friday.
The work will begin with the installation of the micropiles necessary for the anchors. The measuring mast will then be installed two to three weeks later. This will be done in two stages: the lower part will be lifted by a truck crane, while the upper parts will be put in place by helicopter, specifies the press release from the services of State Councilor Olivier Curty.
Primal Surveillance
The first wind measurements can then begin at the beginning of February, once the agent in charge of the measurements, Meteotest AG, has checked that all the instruments (anemometers and weather vanes, among others) are operational. Monitoring weather conditions during installation operations is essential.
It is therefore possible that the work will be delayed for safety reasons linked mainly to the flight of the helicopter, notes the DEEF. The entire process of installing the masts will be accompanied by the ad hoc commission of the Grand Council. The recorded measurements will be published on a dedicated website.
-Two more masts in 2025
Two other masts will be installed by next summer in the wind farm areas listed in the cantonal master plan, the canton further specifies.
- In Surpierre-Cheiry in the commune of Surpierre from March 2025.
- In Schwyberg in the municipalities of Plasselb and Planfayon from July 2025.
A fourth mast could still be placed around Gibloux, unless the wind measurements of the commune of Châtelard are obtained and validated.
