On Wednesday January 8, around 11 p.m., a patient and his companion were admitted to the emergency department of the Pays de Savoie Private Hospital (HPPS) in Annemasse. After half an hour of waiting, the individuals demanded to be taken care of before the other patients. The attendant, who had forced entry to the care area, then physically and verbally abused two nurses.
They were identified
An emergency team, then off duty, celebrating Christmas in a nearby room, intervened when they noticed the fight escalating. They tried to intervene against the two individuals. After intense violent exchanges, they managed to push them aside and get them out of the service. The two attackers then fled.
The Annemasse police are leading the investigation.

The two attackers were arrested
Although no other patient was affected, twelve employees of the establishment were involved in the incident and six of them suffered injuries and various broken limbs. The whole team is in shock. An internal and external psychological unit has been set up to support staff. “It is our health system that has been attacked,” criticized Pierre-Etienne Allard, the director of the HPPS.
The two emergency room attackers were arrested early in the afternoon. They had come to file a complaint against the healthcare team at the police station! They were placed directly in police custody.
As the emergency team is no longer complete or able to care for patients, the HPPS Emergency Department closed its doors this Thursday, January 9. The reopening is scheduled for January 10 at 8 a.m.
