For the fourth consecutive year, Paris dominates the world ranking of the most attractive cities, established by Euromonitor International. The French capital stands out against strong competitors such as Madrid or Tokyo, distinguishing itself through its economic performance, its modernized infrastructure, its unique cultural offering and its sustainability.
With 17 million international arrivals in 2024, Paris continues to attract travelers and investors, in particular thanks to the impact of the Olympic and Paralympic Games as well as the reopening of emblematic sites such as Notre-Dame Cathedral. This success is based on a targeted strategy, combining an exceptional heritage with constant modernization of its facilities and its transport network.
According to Nadejda Popova of Euromonitor International, the growing demand for cultural and tailor-made experiences favors cities like Paris, capable of offering authenticity and innovation. Europe, with six cities in the top 10, maintains its leadership, thanks in particular to metropolises like Rome, Milan and Madrid.
However, competition is intensifying with Asian destinations, notably Bangkok, which welcomed 32 million visitors in 2024 (+30% growth). Faced with this rise in power, major European cities must now meet the challenge of overtourism while continuing to innovate to remain competitive on the world stage.
