You take a dynamic, inventive and passionate woman, you add a zest of local products and a good dose of know-how… and you obtain the micro-enterprise “Saveurs Péyi Guadeloupe”. It’s a project put together from scratch by Gaëlle Billy. The young woman offers agri-food products concocted from the riches of Guadeloupe. We met her in her laboratory, in Petit-Bourg

Gaëlle Billy made her dream come true: finding a place in the agroprocessing sector; a small place which, perhaps one day, will become big. The young woman is at the head of an artisanal micro-enterprise, within which she concocts jams and liqueurs, under the brand “Flavors Péyi Guadeloupe“, since 2021. She takes sole responsibility for each stage of manufacturing her products, from picking her ingredients, to selling the jars, including developing recipes, cooking, potting and labeling. .

After sharing premises for more than a year, she finally invested in a brand new laboratory. It also financed its structure, located in Petit-Bourg, with its own funds.

Today, I have more than 40,000 euros in terms of investment, since we will find all the equipment necessary for food production, particularly on the basis of jams. Afterwards, gradually, given that I am also developing the condiments section (notably the potted baby), it still requires investment to be able to operate and meet demand.

Every morning, Gaëlle's days begin with her search for the aromatic plants necessary for her creations. Its raw materials are local and natural, for flavors typically from the Guadeloupean region. : jams “giraumon potato with vanilla“, “mango wood flavor from India“, “Banana pole with lemon zest“, rum liqueurs”lactose-free breadfruit“, “seaside grapes“, “porcelain rose“, etc.
One of the rare fruits that she values is the bilimbi.

Gaëlle’s clientele is there ; it continues to increase. Enough to allow this craftsman to make his first profits, after 3 years of activity.

For the future, namely the development of her project, the entrepreneur hopes to find financial support to support her ; Funds exist, she knows it and will contact the relevant services.

For the moment, manufacturing is exclusively artisanal.
His wish is to soon be able to market the products “Flavors Péyi Guadeloupe“outside the archipelago ; These are already very popular in certain delicatessens in the area.
And in the meantime, the end-of-year holidays will allow it to garner 40% of its annual turnover.
