We tested it for you!

To the writing of The Pause Infowe have decided to take you on a journey as the holidays approach by testing a weekend in Barcelona. And what better way to combine charm, luxury and tradition than to settle down at the Casa Fuster Hotel, a true modernist gem located on the prestigious Passeig de Gràcia? A look back at a winter getaway in the heart of the Catalan capital.

Hotel Casa Fuster: a dive into Barcelona elegance

As soon as we arrived at the Casa Fuster Hotel, we were seduced by its imposing architecture. Built in 1908 by Lluís Domènech i Montaner, this modernist masterpiece is much more than a hotel: it is a true historical monument.

The welcome is warm, and the attentive staff was able to put us at ease from the first minute. Our rooms, with spectacular views of Passeig de Gràcia, exuded refinement. Special mention for the absolutely comfortable bedding, perfect after a day of sightseeing.

In the evening, we tried the famous Café Vienés, the hotel's legendary venue. The jazzy atmosphere that reigns there transported us, and it is not difficult to understand why artists such as Woody Allen played there. This café is the beating heart of the establishment, where you can sip a cocktail while admiring the beauty of the place.

Barcelona in December: traditions and magic

During this weekend, we walked the streets of Barcelona, which come particularly alive as Christmas approaches. Impossible to miss the Fira de Santa Llúcia, the emblematic Christmas market set up in front of the Gothic cathedral. Among the stands, we found artisanal decorations and, of course, the famous “caganer”, this typically Catalan figurine which made us smile.

In the evening, the city lights left us speechless. Whether on Passeig de Gràcia, with its sparkling garlands, or in the small alleys of the Gothic Quarter, Barcelona is dressed in a magical light that immerses each visitor in the festive atmosphere.

Unique winter activities

Winter in Barcelona is also an opportunity to discover original activities. We tested the Port Vell ice rink, located by the sea. Sliding on the ice while enjoying the view of the boats in the port is an astonishing and fun experience, which we highly recommend, especially as a family.

Another favorite: a walk in the Gràcia district. This authentic corner of Barcelona, with its small squares and cobbled streets, offers a timeless charm, ideal for a winter stroll. We found a small artisanal hot chocolate shop there… A real treat to warm up!

A terrace with breathtaking views

The highlight of our stay at Hotel Casa Fuster was undoubtedly its terrace. From this rooftop, the panoramic view of Barcelona is absolutely magical, especially at sunset. The Sagrada Família, the Tibidabo, and even the Mediterranean are revealed from a new angle. We spent a memorable time there, simply contemplating the city which was gradually lighting up.

Our verdict: a Christmas in Barcelona not to be missed!

Barcelona At Sunset

Spending a weekend in Barcelona in December is an experience that we recommend without hesitation. The Casa Fuster Hotel, with its exceptional setting and impeccable service, was a real favorite.

Whether for its festive atmosphere, its unique traditions or its mild climate, Barcelona in winter has something to appeal to all travelers. So why not let yourself be tempted and experience a Christmas full of Catalan magic?
