The fall of the Barnier government is official. The French Prime Minister fell well this Wednesday evening following a motion of censure validated by 311 deputies out of 577 and therefore practically all the oppositions, Socialist Party (PS) and National Rally (RN) included. At the origin of this distrust, the Social Security budget, the first part of the budgetary texts for the year 2025, crucial in the face of a spiral of deficits denounced by Brussels.
The result of the vote of no confidence was announced shortly after Emmanuel Macron landed in the Paris region, returning from Saudi Arabia. The latter must now appoint a new head of government.
