Aidos Sadykov, a popular dissident and blogger with millions of subscribers on YouTube, “left us today at 03:00 Kiev time (00:00 GMT),” Natalia Sadykova wrote on Facebook.

“My beloved husband, the father of our three children, a great son of the Kazakh people. Aidos gave his life for Kazakhstan,” she stressed.

“For thirteen days he fought for his life, but a miracle did not happen,” Sadykova lamented.

Aïdos Sadykov was seriously injured by a bullet to the head on June 18, not far from his home in the Ukrainian capital, where he had been granted asylum since 2014.

The opponent was then in his car with Natalia Sadykova who was not hit. He was hospitalized in serious condition.

Natalia Sadykova then accused Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of being behind the attack.

The Kazakh presidency assured for its part that Kazakhstan was “ready to cooperate with Ukraine, including through Interpol” to find the suspects.

The Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office has issued an international search warrant against “two citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan” and a notice of suspicion for “attempted murder” targeting them.

According to the prosecutor’s office, the suspects arrived in Ukraine from Poland on June 2 and left Ukrainian territory immediately after carrying out the assassination attempt, crossing the border with Moldova.

Aidos Sadykov and his wife ran opposition social media channels from Ukraine that were critical of the President of Kazakhstan.
