Swiss companies must be involved in the reconstruction of Ukraine. The Federal Council on Wednesday asked the competent department to draw up a negotiating mandate with Ukraine with a view to concluding a treaty to this effect.
In June, the government had already decided to make 500 million francs available over four years for this purpose, he recalled in a press release. This amount should be used mainly to provide financial aid to Ukraine for the acquisition of products and services provided by Swiss companies.
Systematic cooperation measures with Swiss companies will be part of the Swiss program for Ukraine 2025-2028. The envelope comes from the budget amounting to 1.5 billion francs provided for in the 2025-2028 international cooperation strategy for Ukraine and the region. However, Parliament still has to give its approval.
The Federal Department of Economic Affairs (DEFR) has until the end of February 2025 to draw up the negotiating mandate.
