Democratic activists gather for solace after their defeat by Donald Trump.

They are looking for explanations and groping to resist the future president.

Unlike 8 years ago, after Donald Trump’s first victory, there is no popular mobilization.

On the facade of the Church of Christ, a progressive congregation led by female pastors in Miami’s affluent Coral Gables neighborhood, two red arrows indicate the evening’s events. On the left, a post-election support group which has met every Tuesday since the November 5 election. “I really need it,” sighs Susan, a democratic activist, who finally opts for the local party meeting.

Nearly 100 people, the majority women, gathered Tuesday evening to find explanations and comfort for the defeat by Donald Trump. “We must be lights in the darkness,” solemnly introduces Bentonne Snay, president of the Coral Gables Democratic Club, a specialist in fundraising for non-profit organizations.
