Donald Trump set up a fake war room at Mar-a-Lago

Screens everywhere, videos scrolling, sessions following one another, high-flying strategies taking shape… It feels like we’re in the White House situation room, but we’re actually in Florida, and more precisely at Mar-a-Lago. Axios reports that Donald Trump’s transition team created a fake situation room in his West Palm Beach residence. The elected president uses it to work on the formation of his future government.

He had already set a similar scene in his Trump Tower in 2016. In this room, the Republican and his entourage sift through the digital files of the candidates for the forty positions remaining to be filled within the administration. On the television screens are shown extracts from the television appearances of each potential recruit. Donald Trump, a television man, attaches particular importance to the audiences and the telegeny of those around him.

In this “Southern White House”, the Republican consults his closest collaborators, such as his vice-president JD Vance, the deputy head of his transition team Howard Lutnick or even Elon Musk, who no longer leaves Mar-a-Lago since the presidential election. According to the “New York Times”, Stephen Miller, who should be named deputy director of Trump’s cabinet, will also have a say in future appointments.

Florida Senator Marc Rubio should soon be nominated for secretary of state, according to American media. And this risks giving kyiv a cold sweat: it estimated at the beginning of November that it was necessary to “end” the war in Ukraine, in an “impasse” according to it.

Another “hawk” – and another elected official from Florida –, Mike Waltz, was appointed to the very strategic position of National Security Advisor at the White House. Between them, they would be the main architects of the foreign policy of Donald Trump, who has promised to end the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East – without ever explaining how.

Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, a former Baptist pastor, has also been appointed to the post of ambassador to Israel.

Beyond the diplomatic aspect, the president-elect should also appoint Governor Kristi Noem, a faithful among the faithful, to lead the Ministry of Internal Security, responsible for customs and border guards.
