Donald Trump won nearly 4 million votes ahead of Kamala Harris. The town of Springfield, Ohio, which had been at the heart of fake news launched by the Republican candidate, voted overwhelmingly for him.

Singled out during the American presidential campaign, Springfield voted overwhelmingly for the Republican candidate and is enjoying his victory. In this town of 60,000 inhabitants, nearly 20,000 Haitians have arrived in recent years. During the campaign, Donald Trump personally targeted the Haitian community, claiming that its members “dogs and cats eat”.

At the heart of a gross rumor denied by the press and local authorities, the city has become the symbol in the eyes of the American right of uncontrolled immigration. Many Haitians now believe they are in Donald Trump's crosshairs, especially those who have a temporary residence permit. Haitians work en masse in industry, and are a new workforce prized by local entrepreneurs. According to Paschhur Castelly, an employee of an employment agency, “Ohio State's industry is going to collapse” if the Haitians were expelled.
