Well here it is, it begins. Those who doubted the implementation of Donald Trump’s policies will be confused. Trump is in a hurry to achieve results and so are his allies, starting with Benjamin Netanyahu.

In recent days, Netanyahu has had three telephone conversations with Trump. What did they discuss? Among other things, attacks against Iranian nuclear facilities.

“We agree on the Iranian threat in all its aspects and the danger it poses,” the Israeli prime minister said yesterday.

Netanyahu has also just appointed a new Defense Minister, Israel Katz. The latter declared that the destruction of Iran’s nuclear infrastructure was his priority.

Katz also favors Jewish settlement in Gaza and the West Bank.

Thus, the administration of Joe Biden, while supporting Israel, constituted the last bulwark of the Palestinians against the extreme ambitions of Netanyahu. It was also, through its moderation, allied with the government of the Iranian mullahs.

Contrary to the speculations of many American Muslims, and despite Trump’s promises towards the Palestinians, the 2024 American election has just swept away these protections.

No relief for Iranians and Palestinians

Because no Muslim government in the region supports the Palestinian cause in a concrete and effective way. And no Sunni government will come to Iran’s aid.

Only two countries could theoretically support Iran: Russia and China.

But Russia will not do it, because its economy is too weak and because Vladimir Putin, on the eve of negotiations on Ukraine, will want to remain in Trump’s good graces.

China won’t help Iran directly either. Because its economy is doing badly and because Xi Jinping will not want to displease Trump, while delicate trade negotiations will begin between China and the United States.

Those who believe that Iran does not yet have an atomic bomb may be right. Or we have to hope that the American and Israeli military have found a way to neutralize these bombs before they hit their targets.

Carte blanche

Obviously, the Netanyahu government interprets the election of Trump as carte blanche to achieve its objectives of pacification, but also of conquest and colonization.

The Palestinians thus fall into the sad category of people who are morally right, but politically wrong. This category of people who are right to claim their rights, but who without real support from other countries, are politically condemned to disappear.

Netanyahu’s government, with Trump’s blessing, is therefore strengthening Israel’s regional power while militarily neutralizing Hamas and Hezbollah and decisively accelerating Israeli colonization of Palestinian lands.

These policies risk significantly increasing the terrorist threat to the United States and its allies.
