A passerby died after being stabbed in a parking lot on Sunday in Marcq-en-Baroeul (North), near Lille, said a police source, specifying that a suspect was arrested.
“A passerby was the target of a stabbing in a parking lot, for no reason” according to the first elements of the investigation, indicated the police source, specifying that the events took place around 6:00 p.m. The victim “was walking his dog.” “A homeless person was arrested,” added the same source.
Contacted by AFP, the prefecture confirmed “a murder late in the afternoon” in Marcq-en-Baroeul without further details. A municipal source told AFP that the victim, a sixty-year-old, had gone to walk a friend’s dog on the towpath along the Roubaix canal.
He was attacked near a DIY and decoration store and a fast food restaurant. A jogger, an emergency doctor, performed the first aid procedures and attempted a cardiac massage, in vain, a municipal source added.
