The conviction of Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, notably for illegal possession of a firearm in 2018 could have consequences on the American president’s electoral campaign.

According to journalist in Washington, Sonia Dridi, the conviction of the 54-year-old man is a hard blow for Joe Biden’s clan.

“It’s an unpleasant surprise for the Biden clan because it’s shocking that Biden’s son was found guilty of three counts. I remind you that he was accused of having denied his drug addiction in order to obtain a weapon,” explains the journalist in an interview with LCN.

Joe Biden has specified that he will not grant a pardon to his son. Sonia Dridi believes that President Biden wants to show the contrast of his opponent Donald Trump.

“It is very important for President Biden to show the contrast with Donald Trump who says that he is going to pardon these friends and that he denounces the judicial process,” says Ms. Dridi.

She also believes that the American president can win votes from moderate voters or independent voters by not giving privileges to his son.

The conviction of Hunter Biden could be used to attack Joe Biden’s clan by his Republican opponent, particularly during the first presidential debate on June 27.

“I think it’s going to be a debate that’s obviously going to be very heated because Donald Trump is going to use all of Biden’s affairs to attack him. Joe Biden may not like it, because he doesn’t really like people touching his family,” adds the journalist in Washington.

Remember that this is the first time in the history of the United States that American justice has convicted a child of a sitting president.
