Around 8 p.m., Tuesday evening, Florida was won by Donald Trump, according to predictions from the American media CNN.
The count is not yet complete in Pinellas County, located in the west of the state, but it is also in favor of the Republican candidate with 52% of the votes at the time of writing these lines. It includes in particular the inhabitants of the city of Saint Petersburg.
Although the state of Florida is normally won by the Republican Party, this “barometer” county varies between the two camps. Joe Biden won it in 2020, even though he lost the state of Florida. In 2016, Donald Trump won it over.
However, the official Pinellas County result does not automatically give Mr. Trump victory.
In general, Kamala Harris’ performance in this state is less remarkable than expected, Pierre-Olivier Zappa said on LCN on Tuesday evening. In Democratic Orange County, for example, near Orlando, Mme Harris is winning for the moment with around 56% of the votes, which is five points less than in the 2020 election. Joe Biden obtained 61% of the votes.
