The “Dana”, an isolated high-altitude depression that causes sudden and violent rains, is the cause of the floods that hit various regions of Spain last week, causing at least 217 deaths and the disappearance of many people. Valencia and its surroundings were particularly affected. The city of Tarragona, near Barcelona, ​​was hit by heavy rain which resulted in flooding on Sunday evening.

Code red was activated Monday morning in Baix Llobregat, Alt Penedès and Garraf, in Catalonia in anticipation of intense rain, hailstorms and powerful gusts, even tornadoes.

An orange alert is in place in Barcelona, ​​with possible precipitation exceeding 100 liters per square meter during the day, says the newspaper El Periódico.
