At least 21 people were killed and 41 others injured Thursday in Israeli airstrikes against southern and eastern Lebanon, according to Lebanese sources.

BEIRUT, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) — At least 21 people were killed and 41 others injured in Israeli airstrikes on southern and eastern Lebanon on Thursday, according to Lebanese sources.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, the sources said Israeli military aircraft launched 16 raids in southern Lebanon and nine more in the east of the country during the afternoon and evening, killing 21 people and killing 21 people. 41 injured.

Among those attacked were six Lebanese soldiers who were injured in a drone attack on a military checkpoint at the Hosh al-Sayyed Ali crossing point in eastern Lebanon.

Separately, Lebanese civil defense sources told Xinhua that an Israeli raid destroyed a three-story building in the eastern village of Karak, killing nine people and injuring 14.

“Civil defense personnel, in cooperation with the Lebanese Red Cross, recovered five bodies and eight wounded from a building destroyed by an Israeli raid in the eastern Lebanese town of Rayaq,” the sources added .

In addition, seven bodies and 13 injured people were found in the town of Mahrouna and the village of Maifadoun, both located in southern Lebanon, according to the sources.

Since the end of September, the Israeli army has launched intensive attacks in Lebanon as part of a dangerous escalation with Hezbollah.
