Russian and Chinese vessels “carried out maneuvers” aimed at practicing anti-submarine warfare, using a helicopter, according to the same source.
The patrol, organized after joint Russian-Chinese exercises and which notably involves large Russian anti-submarine ships Amiral Panteleev et Amiral Triboutsalso includes several water rescue training, the statement added.
Ties between Moscow and Beijing have deepened since the start of Russia’s offensive in Ukraine in February 2022, which China has never officially condemned.
Beijing presents itself as neutral in this conflict and ensures that it does not deliver any weapons to any party. But the Americans and Europeans regularly accuse him of offering Russia, targeted by numerous Western sanctions, crucial economic support.
In September, Chinese warships participated in joint maneuvers with Russia in the northern Sea of Japan, as part of large-scale Russian naval exercises called “Ocean-2024” organized by Russia in the Pacific and Atlantic oceans, as well as in the Mediterranean, Caspian and Baltic seas.
