Why you don’t remember your dreams

When we go to sleep, we dream every night. You may not have known it, but it is indeed the case, even if you rarely remember your dreams. This is actually a reflection of the quality of your sleep and your psychological state. Whether it’s sweet dreams or nightmares, we’ll explain.

Why don’t we remember our dreams?

When we dream, it means that our sleep is quality and restorative. If, on the other hand, you have the impression of never dreaming, this may hide a psychological or emotional imbalance, according to Psychologue.net.

For example, if you suffer from sleep disorders (insomnia, apnea, night terrors, etc.), this can impact paradoxical sleep during which rest is deeper. Stress, alcohol and even coffee are also factors that can negatively impact our sleep and thus reduce our ability to remember our dreams.

Another situation that can impact the memory of our dreams is if we are going through a complicated period on an emotional level: a difficult breakup or a death for example. We will sleep less well, and sleep will therefore lose quality.

The solution remains to listen to your body and do your best to decompress before going to sleep.
