Branson Baker, 9 years old, has become a true hero in the United States. As reported by local media KKTVthe little 9 year old boy saved his parents’ livesWayne and Lindy Baker, after a car accident.

A heroic gesture

The scene took place on April 27 in the town of Dickson, Oklahoma. Wayne and Lindy Baker were on their way to a friend’s storm shelter when their car was violently hit thrown against a tree by a tornado. Seriously injured, the two parents were unable to extricate themselves from the vehicle unlike their son, who miraculously escaped unharmed. “Mom, Dad, please don’t die. I’ll come back.” he would have told them before going to get help.

Branson therefore did not hesitate to run in the dark to alert neighbors. “He managed to find his way thanks to the lightning. Every time there was a flash of lightning, the road lit up. He ran as fast as he could, as hard as he could. He probably ran a kilometer in ten minuteswhich is quite impressive for a child.” said Johnny Baker, the boy’s uncle. A feat which fortunately bore fruit. His parents were able to be rescued.

A great show of solidarity

Wayne and Lindy Baker were quickly transported to an intensive care unit. Both suffered from back, neck and rib fractures. In addition to breaking his sternum and arm, the father lost part of a finger. As for the mother, she punctured her lung and broke her jaw and hand. Under the care of doctors, both parents are slowly recovering from their injuries. Questioned by the local press, Branson simply declared: “I had to save my parents.”

A fundraiser has been launched to support Wayne and Lindy Baker, who are currently unable to work. According to our colleagues, more than 70,000 dollars (around 65,000 euros) have already been collected for the baker couple. Moved by the story, the Branson baseball team held a fundraiser during a game. All players wore stickers on their helmets to support the family.
