Speaking at the Future Summit, Sudanese Foreign Minister Hussein Awad Ali called for non-interference in the internal affairs of countries as Sudan has been going through a bloody civil war for more than 15 months, triggered by two generals.

He stressed respect for the sovereignty of states as a fundamental principle of the UN Charter.

Hussein Awad Ali also called for a comprehensive reform of the international financial architecture. He stressed the importance of this reform to better respond to the challenges and problems faced by developing countries, particularly due to poverty, conflicts or climate change. This reform is essential to ensure adequate and sustainable support for these vulnerable nations.

It is essential to strictly respect the Charter of the United Nations, as well as its principles and objectives. We must avoid giving priority to some principles over others or reinterpreting these rules according to specific interests. The stability of the international order is based on respect for the Charter, in particular with regard to non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries, respect for the sovereignty of States and their territorial integrity, as well as the prohibition of the use of force in international relations. It is regrettable to see a policy of double standards and selectivity in the application of these fundamental principles, he stressed. Hussein Awad Ali.

World leaders have adopted the Compact for the Future, a historic declaration committing to take concrete steps towards a safer, more peaceful, more sustainable and more inclusive world for future generations.
