Donald Trump’s friend recounts alleged assassination attempt

Businessman Steve Witkoff, a long-time friend of Donald Trump, was present alongside the Republican candidate at the time of the alleged assassination attempt on the former American president on Sunday, September 15.

What happened on Donald Trump’s golf course in Palm Beach this Sunday, September 15? The Republican candidate for the White House was the target of an alleged assassination attempt. In this case, Ryan Routh was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.

US authorities said the suspect hid in a bush for several hours before pointing a gun at Donald Trump without firing a shot.

“The whole team rallied around him”

In the front row of the scene was Steve Witkoff. A close friend and supporter of Donald Trump, the businessman was playing golf with the Republican candidate on Sunday afternoon. When the Secret Service agents fired shots, “the whole team gathered around him, except for the snipers,” he told NBC News.

“The snipers split up and came within three meters of me, set up their tripods and aimed exactly where the shots were coming from,” the Trump insider recalled.

The Republican candidate had “a guy following right behind him, but there were also people perched next to him.”

After the incident was over, the former White House resident made sure his loved ones and law enforcement were safe. The alleged assassination attempt shouldn’t deter him from golf, Witkoff said: “He’s a tough guy to stress out about. You know, golf’s a great game for him.”

On Fox News on Monday, September 16, Trump pointed out the “rhetoric” of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, saying that the suspect “adheres to the rhetoric” of the two Democrats and “acted accordingly.” The investigation is still ongoing. The FBI is particularly looking into whether Ryan Routh acted alone.
