After a very difficult start in the championship (two victories, six defeats), Tours Volley-Ball is regaining color at all levels. Uncompromising on the European scene with three victories and a qualification in sight for the quarter-finals of the CEV Cup – which will however have to be validated next Wednesday in Grenon against Zagreb – the Tourangeaux have finally found their cruising speed in MSL. Because on the Plessis-Robinson pitch (red lantern), the partners of Hermans Egleskalns compiled a fifth success in a row, this Saturday, December 14.

A difficult first set

If the TVB is doing better, everything has not been perfect. Particularly in an initial set during which Marcelo Fronckowiak's men blew hot and cold. The PRVB was more than competitive, while Mitchem in the center and Ronkainen in the block gave the TVB a hard time (3-3, 9-9, 16-16).

Tours was even in an unfortunate position (19-17) before Aracaju got the machine going with a winning attack and a counter (19-20). On an ace from central, Tours even got three set points (21-24), but only finished the job on the fourth (24-26), thanks to a counter from Strehlau, who had just come into play.

An ace from Gabin to end the match

In the second round, the Tourangeaux showed greater serenity (11-18), despite an air gap which could have been costly (17-19). Fortunately, Aracaju released a big series on serve (17-23) to put his team in excellent shape. Author of a solid performance (10/18 in attack), Pothron finished the job (19-25).

Like a diesel, the TVB was no longer going to release the pressure against the weak Robinsonnais. Thanks to two good series in the service of Pothron (2-5, 9-17), the Tourangeaux irremediably took off. Better and better in recent weeks and equipped with a real collective and not a simple major six, the TVB concluded the set (25-18) and the match with an ace from Alexandre Gabin.

Even if the Tourangeaux did not have to draw on their reserves, they will now have to quickly recover before the reception in Zagreb.

Marcelo Fronckowiak (Tours coach): “We have been better for a few weeks and this is confirmed today with the victory of an entire group. I am proud of the players. We already have to think about what's next with the European Cup on Wednesday and on December 27. Which means we have to sacrifice the holidays. Tonight we never lost the lead, even when Le Plessis came back in the first set. We were able to finish the job. The other two sets were less complicated, even if we had a little air gap in the second. We continue our recovery and we are still candidates for the play-offs. Today I'm happy with the six and the players who came in. It is the victory of a collective. »
