Maëlys Agnèse, the Polish powerhouse of Béziers Volley will try with her partners, this Saturday evening, to return from Cannes with a 3rd victory this season. Meeting with an endearing player who admits to flourishing in Béziers.
After 12 seasons in the Polish first and second division, at 29 years old, Paulina Majkowska chose to experience a unique adventure by joining Béziers Volley this season. Originally from Rumia in Poland, she discovered the French championship for the first time, but also a new culture which already seemed to seduce her. “I love being here, I'm really happy as a person. The region is magnificent. For me, it's a real pleasure to live in this part of France.” she confides enthusiastically.
A discreet woman
An only child, Paulina discovered Volleyball at the age of just 16. In daily life, number 17 of the Angels is a discreet, rather introverted woman. “In Poland, I was very reserved, I spent a lot of time alone with my dog, Duke, an Australian Shepherd. He is my life companion, he accompanies me everywhere and has followed me to all my clubs”she says with tenderness. However, his arrival in France changed his daily life. “Here, I feel more open, more sociable. Maybe this new beginning awakened something in me. I discover another side of my personality”she said, smiling.
An eclectic taste in music
Off the field, Paulina likes to discover her new environment: “I love going for walks with Duke, discovering the landscapes of Occitania. It’s a beautiful region, I have memories here.” The player also admits to having an eclectic taste in music, moving from Indian folk to techno depending on her mood of the day. “It depends on my state of mind, but I really like listening to everything, from old classics from the 80's or 90's, that my parents made me listen to, to more modern and more pop sounds.she explains.
“He still lacks a little experience”
On the floors, the 1.85m powerhouse remains focused on her sporting objectives with Béziers, despite a sometimes complicated start to the championship. “We have great potential, but we still lack a little experience to last until the end of the matches. We play very well up to 20 points, but after that we make too many mistakes.” she analyzes. “If we can keep our composure in key moments, we can beat any team in the championship.”.
With her infectious energy and determination, Paulina Majkowska will be determined this Saturday evening in Cannes in this poorly ranked match.
Cannes (13e)-Beziers (12e) kick-off will be at 8 p.m.
