From Thursday to Sunday, the Toulouse Beach Volleyball girls will discover the European Cup for the first time, a competition to continue growing.
From today in Montpellier and until Sunday, the BVT players will cross swords with fifteen other clubs from all over Europe, to award the title of continental champions. Under the leadership of their coach Morgane Faure, Nadège Delprat, Fanette Jaunet, Dina Mellal and Linda Paravano, also president of the club, are longing for this gathering. “Thursday and Friday, group matches, Saturday play-offs and quarter-finals then semi-finals and finals on Sunday,” lists Linda Paravano.
On the same format as the Coupe de France, organized by the BVT a few weeks ago at Creps de Lespinet, the president of the Toulouse team explains the concept to us: “There are two pairs. Pair 1 from Toulouse will play the pair 1 of a club and pair 2 against pair 2. And if there is a tie of victory at the end of these two matches, there is a golden set which mixes a player from pair 1 with a player from pair 2.” Spanish, Italian, French clubs but also Azerbaijani and Ukrainian clubs, it’s a beautiful picture that is shaping up.
A first without pressure
Informed three weeks ago that the club could participate, the BVT players are going there to benefit from the experience: “We don’t know at all what to expect. Besides, it’s only the second or third year that This competition exists. We go into it a little blindly, to see how it will go, but we go there to do our best and have fun.”
For the president of the BVT, this competition is not limited to the field. Linda Paravano intends to continue to grow her club during this European gathering: “There will be round tables organized to share our experiences, to see a little bit how it works in other countries. And obviously debates to make developing the beach in the right direction. It’s a great showcase for the club and also a satisfaction to see all our work upstream rewarded.”
