The new Italian series from Netflix is dedicated, at the end of each episode, to a certain Gianluca Bombardone. But who is it about? A look back at a filming tragedy.
While the Italian series Adoration met with great success when it was broadcast on Netflix in 2024, our neighbor to the south still has many series in its bag of tricks. At the start of 2025, the streaming platform notably put the series online Public Disorder. This six-episode fiction sees a frankly borderline CRS unit based in Rome being investigated for police violence after a clash with Zadists completely degenerated. Titled A.C.A.B. in original version, the series is actually taken from the eponymous novel by Carlo Bonini, published in 2009, and which had already given rise to a film of the same title in 2012. Although the series did not convince us at all at Télé- Leisure, many viewers will probably wonder who Gianluca “Bomba” Bombardone is, to whom the series pays tribute at the end of each episode.
Public Disorder on Netflix: who is Gianluca “Bomba” Bombardone, who is the series dedicated to?
Red letters on a black background, each episode ends with the phrase: “This series is dedicated to Gianluca “Bomba” Bombardone“. The man, of Italian nationality, is credited as cameraman on each of the six episodes of the series and therefore participated in its entire filming. According to the Italian media Il Messaggero, this 44-year-old technician died on the 8 June 2024 while working in Sardinia on the filming of a documentary. Victim of sudden illness, he never regained consciousness despite the rapid intervention of emergency services and various resuscitation attempts.
Gianluca Bombardone had already worked on many successful series
The cameraman had a great career behind him: for Netflix, he had worked on the filming of SupersexItalian series broadcast on Netflix which retraces the life of Rocco Siffredi, porn star. He was also in the credits of the series The Great as well as the most Italian of series, Gomorrah since he had worked on season 5.
