“It’s a bit far-fetched”… Richard Rankin reacts to the revelation about Roger’s father

If Claire and Jamie returned to Scotland, at the start of part 2 of season 7 ofOutlanderRoger returned to the past by crossing the stones with Buck, in the finale of the first part. Roger went after Rob Cameron, Brianna's colleague, who kidnapped their son Jemmy. The pastor is on a mission to find his son at all costs. But by crossing the stones, he seems to have arrived at the wrong time, generating a series of incongruous encounters, when he finds himself face to face with Geillis Duncan or Douglas McKenzie, two characters who died in previous seasons of Outlander (the magic of time travel!) Above all, when going in search of his son, Roger did not at all expect to make discoveries about his own father!

Outlander season 7, part 2: is Roger's father a time traveler, who also crossed the stones?

If the fans ofOutlander mainly know Roger as an adult, when he met Brianna and her mother when they were researching Culloden to try to find Jamie's trace. Roger fell under Brianna's spell, to the point of crossing the stones to find her in turn. But viewers actually know Roger since his childhood, when he was just a little boy, in seasons 1 and 2, at the home of Reverend Wakefield, his adoptive father. Roger's biological parents both died in World War II, his mother in the Blitz, the bombing of London, and his father when his plane was shot down, although his body was never found. However, all of Roger's beliefs are turned upside down when he learns, in episode 10 of season 7 ofOutlanderthat his father was perhaps a time traveler too. He wouldn't have died in the plane crash, but he would have walked through the stones and gotten stuck in the past. Roger doesn't need much more to nourish the mad hope of finding his biological father! However, nothing says that his theory is true, nor that he is still alive, if that is the case.

“This raises a lot of questions” : Richard Rankin reacts to Roger's father possibly being a time traveler in Outlander

We will therefore have to wait for the next episodes of Outlander to find out if Roger was right about his father and whether or not the two men will meet again. In the meantime, actor Richard Rankin spoke to Télé-Loisirs about this twist in the series. “It was a very powerful moment, which also raises a lot of questions, he declared. This means that Roger didn't end up in this time by chance, because when you walk through the stones, you have to think of someone you love to guide you. Maybe that's why they arrived at a different time period, which could be a problem. Unless that's no problem, maybe Jemmy is with him? It's a bit far-fetched but, in any case, it changes all his ideas about his father, who may have disappeared while crossing the stones. There is still a lot to explore, it cannot be done in one go, we will discover it little by little in the episodes.” For her part, Caitriona Balfe spoke to Télé-Loisirs about the upsetting scene of the announcement of Jamie's death.
