Christian and Béatrice Baietto appeared on the show “Nightmare in the kitchen”on M6, in March 2024. They were restaurateurs at the Cygne de l'spérance, in Allas-les-Mines (Dordogne). And the help of Philippe Etchebest was not enough to get them out of trouble.
In fact, since February 2023 they are at war with their owners. This retired couple who own the premises of their restaurant took them to court for numerous unpaid rents.
Nightmare for the owners of this restaurant
At the time we were talking about 23,000 euros. And while the Baiettos appealed, the courts confirmed their decision in November 2024, and raised the bill. From now on, the amount owed is 60,000 euros, as ordered by the Bordeaux court.
In an interview given to Ici Périgord, the owner, Robert Besse explains his gesture. It ensures: “We are completely helpless. We will soon be on the street since we have nothing left. I had to borrow money from the bank, I took out a loan of 27,000 euros to survive.”.
And for good reason, he and his wife were counting on the rent from this restaurant to supplement their small pensions of 1,500 euros together, our colleagues explain.
Meanwhile, restaurateurs are absent. On Google, the restaurant is reported as permanently closed. “There are only the two cars parked at the back of the building” explain the witnesses, but no one, neither in person, nor on the telephone.
And this is not the first time that this couple has gone bankrupt. According to Here, Christian and Béatrice Baietto have already set up a first business in catering. It was in the Lot, but unfortunately, right during Covid-19.
The regional daily press had already reported this failure. In the columns of La Dépêche, we can read that the establishment was the subject ofprolonged closure.
Philippe Etchebest failed to save restaurateurs
At the same time, Christian Baietto, who was still a civil servant, worked in two different town halls, and allegedly had problems with his management.
Regarding the restaurant that we saw in “Nightmare in the kitchen“, for their part, Christian and Béatrice Baietto complained to their owner about the absence of work carried out on site. This might explain their decision not to pay rent since their arrival on site in February 2023.
Still, in April 2024, the court decided to terminate the lease, and asked the couple of tenants to leave, and pay the bill, within two months. Since then, it has been an impasse.
