We’ve been waiting for its release in France for almost two years! Return to Sullivan’s Crossing is now available, and free of charge, on the TF1+ website. A nice gift to start the year 2025 off right, if you are a fan of romantic series. If so, you may have already devoured season 6 of Virgin River on Netflix, with the marriage of Mel and Jack, Lizzie’s pregnancy or even the surprising cliffhanger about Charmaine (whose actress you will also find in the casting of this new fiction). So, while waiting for the release of season 7, officially ordered by Netflix but not yet filmed, you can trust us and put your bags down at Sullivan’s Crossing. You will find in this new romantic series everything you love in Virgin River. And this is quite normal, since the two fictions are adapted by the same author, Robyn Carr.
Does Sullivan’s Crossing Campground exist?
Return to Sullivan’s Crossing starts very similar to Virgin River, with a heroine who finds refuge in a small community to escape her problems. Here, it is about Maggie Sullivan, a brilliant neurosurgeon, involved in a legal case. She therefore decides to return for a while to the idyllic campsite managed by her father, even if she maintains a more than complicated relationship with him, estranged from him since her parents’ divorce. In this haven of peace, she will try to reconnect with him, but also with herself, by returning to her roots. And she will meet Cal (Chad Michael Murray), a mysterious man who has also come to seek a little serenity in Sullivan’s Crossing. The other big common point shared Return to Sullivan’s Crossing with Virgin River, these are its grandiose landscapes. While watching the series, you will probably want to book a cabin in the Sully campsite (Scott Patterson, who you will recognize if you have seen Gilmore Girls). Unfortunately, Sullivan’s Crossing, like the small town of Virgin River, is a fictional place. But, if you want to go to the region, here is where the Canadian series was filmed.
Return to Sullivan’s Crossing : the series is filmed in Nova Scotia, Canada
This is another point in common with Virgin River, Return to Sullivan’s Crossing is also filmed in Canada. The production chose the east coast province of Nova Scotia as the setting for the story of Maggie, Sully and Cal. It was also a strategic choice on the part of Roma Roth, the showrunner of the series. “I wanted to make sure that the series could stand out from Robyn Carr’s other adaptation. So I decided to set the series in Nova Scotia, she told the American site Variety. Having been born and raised in Canada, it has always been a personal goal of mine to create a Canadian program that would reach an international audience.” The oceanside town of Hallifax is one of the main filming locations for Return to Sullivan’s Crossingwhich totally make us want to take a trip, too, to Nova Scotia. During the filming of the series, actor Chad Michael Murray moved there with his wife and their children. “It’s a hidden gem, one of Canada’s best kept secrets, he assured. This place is absolutely magical.” And it shows on the screen!
